Nash won the Dogs In Review Top WSS Producer award for 2009 with five of his offspring completing their titles in 2009. We are proud of Nash, his owner Mary Johnson, and all of the owners of those champions.
We plan to breed our Ch. Statesman's Citation to her uncle Nash during the upcoming fall or winter.

Goose is shown winning her second major. She is pictured the weekend of the Upland Welsh Springer Spaniel Club supported entry. With both majors under her wings, Goose can look at opportunities to win minor points. Goose is co-owned by Sandy Holmes, Trystyn WSS, and Statesman WSS.

We have had the planned breeding of Statesman's Ambassador to Ch. Statesman's Northern Dancer today. Counting ahead 9 weeks, we can then expect the puppies to be born approximately on Sunday, September 19th.

Below is a photo of Ch. Statesman's Northern Dancer taken at 5 weeks of age. Time has flown by with Carly now being over five years of age. Information about Carly's previous litters and photos are on our "litters" page. Niklas is shown sitting and waiting for Carly to come out and play with him!

This has been a busy time with the Riese Ducky litter turning two in March and the Bassel Sea litter turning two in June.
Ducky litter new information:
Statesman's Every Duck Has Her Day "Daisy" Hamrick - OFA good hips and normal elbows, but thyroid is OFA compensative thyroiditis.
Sea litter new information:
Statesman's Sea of Secrets "Dohben" OFA thyroid normal and waiting for results of hips and elbows.

The Ambassador Visits Statesman

Statesman's Ambassador, "Niklas" Stoneman has come to Statesman for a few weeks. His intended is our Ch. Statesman's Northern Dancer "Carly". Niklas has been very successful in the show ring with a United Kennel Club championship, an American International KC championship, and some major wins at AKC shows including Best of Opposite Sex in sweepstakes at the 2010 WSSCA nationals, Best Puppy in Show at the Maryland Sporting Group show this past March, and multiple Best Puppy in Show at UKC shows. We have high hopes for this litter which, if all goes as planned, will be born in mid to late September! Inquiries are welcome.

Statesman's Silver Lining has been enjoying almost daily outings to the local park/lake/beach. We are so lucky that this park allows dogs on leash on the beach and in the water. Gable is glad, too.

Bill and Janet Fraatz were able to stop en route from Phoenix, AZ on their way home to Rhode Island. We were thrilled that they drove a little out of their way so we could visit with them and their boy, Statesman's Yes Snowdancer "Colwyn". We had a great time visiting with Bill and Janet and Colwyn enjoyed a break from car time to play with our Lissen. The Fraatz family, including Colwyn, will be moving to Phoenix in the near future. They are willing to drive to neighboring states to attend shows where Welsh springers are in competition.

Clumbrold's Listen To My Heart has been swimming regularly at the local lake. She also had the opportunity to play with a visiting Statesman puppy, Statesman's Yes Snowdancer "Colwyn" Fraatz. Lissen is the pup with the long tail! I think the name "Snowdancer" is quite appropriate looking at his moves on our living room "dance" floor.

Shoni came to Statesman for a training weekend. We went to the local lake and swam her dogs today. We also did alot of training on Sunny with hopes of her participating in hunting tests this coming fall (if it is possible that the temperatures will ever come down again!).

Ch. Statesman's Cause to Believe had his eyes CERF'd in Marietta and then his coat groomed at Statesman Riese. Brave's family, Frankie Snipes and her grandson, Joseph, are smiling because Brave looks great with his new groom--all part of getting ready for the WSSCA regional specialty this coming October in Atlanta.

Luke Simpson has his health tests completed last month and the results are in.
hips - OFA GOOD
elbows - OFA NORMAL
thyroid - OFA NORMAL
CERFed
Because he has had all of these tests, he will also receive a CHIC number!
